Byron Bay Lighthouse 24/10

One of my favorite places to photograph is Byron Bay. I have been photographing quite a bit of the far north coast of NSW and would have to say that the region is amazing and I could live down there quite easily.

Taken on my 5D Mk2 5 or 6 images from memory and then cropped to 3:1 ratio I like the soft colours in the sky for something a little different to the normal rather than having crazy skies and a lot happening.

Bamboo 21/10

Bamboo Image

Howdy

Taken yesterday, this shot of bamboo was actually a lot harder to get than you would think. With a fair bit of wind about conditions for photographing the bamboo weren’t ideal especially with the Fuji G617 which paired with velvia 50 the exposures were just too long to worry about.

Here is my digital version and I will certainly be back out there to photograph next time there is no wind.

Kirra Beach Shack 19/10

Hey everyone,

After weeks and weeks of rain the sun finally decided to poke its head out from behind the clouds. I have photographed most of the Gold Coast but this time I decided to head south to a little place called Kirra Beach.

Kirra is located just north of the famous snapper rocks and was home to one of the best surf breaks in the country but sadly due to sand pumping the beach has a mass of sand build up which has affect the break quite significantly. One of the things I liked most about Kirra is when the surf was good you would get a large crowd all piled in watching from this little hut right on the point. For those of you who don’t know the area, all the sand in this image used to be covered by water and is where the waves used to break. Not a bad view if you ask me…

If you would like to know more about the devastating sand build up at Kirra Point click this link http://www.kirrapoint.org/

Twelve Apostles – Great Ocean Road 08/10

Gibsons Beach - Twelve Apostles

I found this image hiding along with a few others of the Great Ocean Road that never saw the light of day.

My original plan was to spend three weeks photographing in and around the Great Ocean Road but typical Victorian weather gave me only 4 day out to the 21 that I was there that is wasn’t bucketing down with rain. Camping in torrential rain is was not on my to do list but instead of moving to another spot I stuck around and towards the end of the three weeks I managed to get busy and this was one of the shots I pulled of Gibsons Beach. For those of you who haven’t been to the Twelve Apostles before there are quite a few vantage points of the sea stacks but this is one looking back away from the main viewing platform down towards Gibsons Beach to the east.

The Great Ocean Road is a fantastic place to photograph and a place I would certainly love to shoot with ideal conditions but sometimes you have to make do with what is on offer.

Hope you like this one.

From Above – Gold Coast Aerial 06/10

Hey Everyone

Over the past few weeks I have been going through some images and finding shots that may have slipped through the radar or what not.

This is an aerial shot of the Coolangatta coastline. Taken on the 5d Mark 1 and cropped to panoramic.

Shooting in a chopper is a great experience scary at first but once your up there it is great that’s for sure.

Cheers
